Top Five Reasons to Go Chrome
Bathroom Planning, Contemporary Versus Vintage Showers, Technical TeamNot the browser, the shiny, tough metal.
Not only do chrome bathroom fittings look extremely elegant and stylish but they also have some really practical applications when it comes to maintenance and cleaning.
Here are our top five reasons to opt for chrome in your next bathroom suite.
1) No Rusting
As long as your showers, taps or radiators are plated in chrome, you should not face any problems concerning rust. Most taps and showers are made from copper-rich brass, which is resistant to all manner of corrosive elements.
Our thick chrome plating – of around 40 microns – is sufficient to guarantee an enduring finish. Towel radiators require an extra bit of attention.
Since these are mostly made of low carbon steel, a further two stages are added onto the plating process. Firstly, a layer of copper is applied, which is then topped off by three layers of nickel.
This is then sealed off with 60 microns of chrome, which guarantee an exquisite finish and seal the unit against rust and other undesirables.
2) No Fingerprints
Strangely enough, a good way of testing the quality of chrome is by trying to leave your fingerprints on it. If the chrome is of a high standard – 40 or 60 microns thick – the finger print will disappear after a few minutes.
As long as the chrome used on the bathroom fittings you purchase is at least 40 microns thick, there should be a low likelihood of fingerprints. This means less polishing, good news for anyone tasked with buffing up the bathroom during cleaning.
3) Style
Sleek, shiny and modern chrome is a sophisticated and upmarket look for all bathrooms. Chrome functions as both a vintage and modern look for your mixer shower, meaning that exposed bathroom fittings become an attractive focal point rather than something to hide.
4) Matches Any Colour Scheme
Since chrome is a neutral tone, it creates a great background for any colour scheme to accessorise for any creative theme.
5) Easy to Clean
All you need to keep your chrome shining is water and a soft cloth. As long as you make sure your cloth is soft and it will not scratch the chrome, the chrome should last you for an extremely long time. If you prefer to clean the chrome with something stronger, try using some washing up liquid or soap rather than an acidic cleaner. This will help maintain the finish.
So the thicker the chrome the less i should have to clean it?
Good question Simon.
That is correct, to a certain extent.
If chrome is much thinner than 40 microns it will start to show marks which will be hard to remove.
