Roll Top Bath - Traditional - 1815x800mm

There are a few bathroom ideas that create a statement within your home, yet when it comes to bathroom design these are hardly applied.

One of the top bathroom design ideas when it comes to bathroom planning happens to be positioning your bathtub as a central feature within your bathroom. This can be easily done by adding a spotlight to accentuate the bathtub as a key feature.

The first step in achieving centrepiece status is the position. If you have made up your mind to purchase a luxurious modern freestanding bath or a traditional Victorian roll top bath, you must pay careful attention to its positioning.

Be sure to highlight it to get the most from your investment and set it up as a key feature that the eye is drawn to as soon as one enters the bathroom.

You must then choose a bath that you find most striking and that expresses your personality and style.

As mentioned before, this can be any kind of freestanding bathtub, be it modern or traditional that can be positioned in the centre of the bathroom. An additional way to accentuate the bathtub as the key feature of your bathroom would be by adding tiling to the floor underneath the bathtub or embedding spotlights in the floor around the bath.

If you are fighting for space then the next best thing would be having the bathtub installed against a wall and add a striking shade of tiling to the wall behind the bathtub. This would need to be a bold contrast to the shade of tiling or paint that is already applied in the bathroom. It is not only different colours that can be used to create this effect. You can also use iridescent or metallic tiles to give your bathtub a majestic feel and frame it like a piece of art.

Another way of effectively showcasing your bathtub is by putting it onto a pedestal. This works well if you have a recess to put the bathtub in. The idea of having it elevated will draw the eye to the bathtub and when you take a bath, you will feel pretty pampered. To complete the look, you can tile or clad the side of the bathtub in quality treated wood.

Another hint for accentuating your bathtub is by adding a spotlight to it – literally. Lighting can be useful in bringing the bathtub to the forefront of any onlooker’s attention. This could be done either through embedding miniature spotlights into your ceiling or going for grandeur and hanging a bathroom-safe chandelier over the bathtub to draw the eye to that area.
