Heads Up! Essential Shower Advice
Shower Buying Guides, Showers‘Size doesn’t matter’ is a fairly chilling phrase wherever it is deployed, but sometimes in life it just holds true.
When it comes to design, I am a serious advocate of a holistic approach – every little thing counts. If we consider the bathroom, one of the smallest, and yet most impactful, items is the shower head.
So, out of the goodness of my heart, I have prepared some shower advice to buy your next head.
All Shapes & Sizes
First up, let’s talk feet and inches. To be fair, those dustbin lid-sized designs are standout and extremely cool in the wet room, but you have to consider that the dimensions of your space might not allow for something quite so large.
You should also note that the larger – and ergo heavier – heads will have to be fitted to the ceiling to ensure they don’t topple down and brain you while you’re in the middle of conditioning your hair.
Materials & Finish
You should never vacillate when it comes to the materials used to make your shower head, as this is a major factor in just how long – and how well – they will last and work.
It’s a very simple equation: the longer it lasts, the less money you will have to spend on repairs and replacements. Opt for corrosion resistant materials – your brasses, steels and quality plastics – and also look for thick, gleaming chrome, to enhance the light in your bathroom.
Go with the Flow
Not content with simply allowing the water to fire out in the accepted manner, manufacturers have turned to their designers for something new. They, in turn, have looked to nature to inspire them.
Popular variations include waterfall and rainfall shower heads, the former replicating the soft, soothing pitter-patter of precipitation in the wet room, while the latter looks to emulate the exhilarating rush of water as it tips over the ledge of a waterfall.
I Have Seen the Light!
Bathroom lighting is a topic deserving of its own blog, but there is one way I can merge these two topics fairly seamlessly. I can do this through speaking about LED shower heads, which make for an alluring talking point in your enclosure.
